Available Volunteer Positions

All positions at the Foundation are staffed with volunteers. However, you will be rewarded with the knowledge you are doing something positive for the breed. By joining a select group of Kerry volunteers, you will work for the betterment of the breed.

You can quit these positions at any time, so please try them - you may like them.

Current job openings

Printer

The Foundation is searching for a volunteer who is good with Word or another word processor, to create and print:

  • business cards
  • Thank You cards
  • address labels
  • stationary

Anyone with intermediate word processing skills and a color printer can handle this position. After the initial learning curve, the position should take less than 15 minutes per week.

The Foundation will provide/reimburse the volunteer for all paper and postage.

Web Site Editor

Editor for the web site does:

  • encouraging people to submit articles
  • get permission to reprint articles

Takes about 10 hours per month.

It does not require any web design or html expertise.

Newsletter Layout

The layout position of the Foundation printed quarterly newsletter does not involve writing, or editing. It only requires knowledge of a page layout program. Articles and photos come from the editor. However, photos will need to be edited and put in the right format for the printer. The final layout is emailed to the printer.

Takes about 35 hours every three months.

E-Newsletter Editor

Editor and writer of the monthly email newsletter, requires a basic understanding of web page design.

Takes about 5 hours per month.

Web Master

The web master has responsibility for the web presence of the Foundation.

Requirements:

  • basic understanding of Dreammaker or similar web site management system
  • basic understanding of html a plus
  • be available on short notice

Function:

  • add new contents, provided by editors
  • update directories
  • manage domain names

Takes about 5-30 minutes per day.

Foster Homes

Must be willing to accept a temporary Kerry in your house. Some Kerries may have physical problems and or behavior issues that need to be addressed. Foster Homes will be called upon to transport Kerries, and may be asked to help screen homes.

Foster care can last a few hours to a few months. Many Foundation foster homes may rarely actually foster a Kerry; however, they must be ready to jump into action on short notice.

The Foundation does extensive screening on foster homes. A signed Foster Family Agreement is required. (Agreement: .pdf) The application forms can only be viewed in .pdf format with Acrobat Reader.

Rescue Coordinator

The Foundation has two opening for Rescue Coordinator: Texas and Northern California.

The Rescue Coordinator manages, with the help of the Rescue Director and local volunteers, the rescue and placement of rescue Eeriest in their area. This includes: finding volunteers, accepting rescue Eeriest, vetting the rescue dogs, reviewing applications, home visits and some administrative functions. NONE of this work needs to be done by the Rescue Coordinator, but is most often delegated to local volunteers. However, these volunteers are recruited and managed by the Rescue Coordinator.

Rescue Coordinators are guided by our 47 page Rescue Policy (available upon request.)

This prosition may take 0-40 hours per month--all depending if a Kerry is to be rescued in your area.

Advertising Manager

Post and track advertising on our web site. Must be familiar with web design. NO SALES. This job can be done in one hour each week. Must be reliable because the people's money is involved.
