Seasonal BitchesBy Paul and Valerie McCloskey of Blueberry Kennel Reg'd.
One individual mentioned that they had heard of using chlorophyll tablets with the female. I spoke to our vet who told me that they had never heard of it or anything else that worked. He told us that the chlorophyll wouldn't hurt her in any way. We decided to give it a try. The results are in, and the tablets WORKED. We kept the two of them separated by keeping one of them in their crate at all times, but still in the same room with us. When Piper was out of his crate he didn't pay any attention to Etta in her crate. You would never have known that she was in season from his behavior.....no barking, whining, howling, chewing the crate, panting, drooling, sniffing, marking.....nothing! It wasn't only Piper that failed to respond. The other day Valerie was walking Etta when a friend came by with his two intact males. One is a Lab and the other a Golden. The breeze was blowing from Etta to them and they gave no indication that anything was amiss even though they were just across the street. We paid particular attention to the places where Etta had urinated in the snow and found that there were no other trails of dogs having come to visit. I know that the success we have noted is by no means a scientific certainty, however we have had three weeks of peace and quiet. It also seems unreasonable to think that all the males in our neighborhood are either gay or scent impaired. The only side effect we have noticed is the chlorophyll turns the females' stool a lovely Kelly green. We used a product from a health food store called 'Natural Factors' 20 mg.
tablets morning and evening.
