A Kerry Snow Storyby Rick & Kathy Ellis
As we started Jenny and Hannah were racing around, chasing each other and just having a great time. Then Jenny's leg fur started to pick up snow, as did her beard. The more we walked the bigger the snow balls stuck to her fur got. Before long she was walking bow legged with gigantic (orange-sized) snow balls hanging from all sides. And she looked like Santa -- with a big white beard! She was really embarrased, looking at us with those sad eyes as if to say "what did I do to deserve this?" We tried to break the balls up but they had become ice and it was painful (to her) to work with them. So we just watched and tried not to laugh too loud as the poor girl tried to chase the other dog with these ever-increasing snow balls dangling between her legs and from her nose. Needless to say, it slowed her down considerably. But she persisted, doing more "bounding" than running -- nothing really gets her down. When we got home, we had to stand her before the fire for over an hour to melt the balls. The incident didn't change her view of snow, she still loves it. However, we are are not as likely to take her on a walk in deep, wet powder snow. Wish we had brough our camera on that walk (sigh)...
