I received this email from Betty late last year. She has given me her permission to publish it and given the posse of recent KBT rescues, I thought this might be a timely opportunity to do so.
Thank you, Betty, for rescuing Raquel and taking her into your life and heart, and thank you for taking your time to share your joy with us. - dw
Raquel and Betty
My name is Betty Sawyer Blattman and I rescued Raquel in 2014. Diane Collins was the coordinator. Raquel was raised in Florida then moved to a Foster Home in Georgia. She was 9 or 10 at the time and now 12 and an absolute beauty. She goes everywhere with me and gets praise oohs and awes as many people do not recognize her breed and have never seen a Kerry before.
She, by the way, is my seventh Kerry and three were rescued. We walk every am for about 45 min and afternoon about 1/2 hr. She does have separation anxiety and when I can't take her with me she goes for playtime at Camp Bow wow for an hr or so.
I picked her up in Salt Lake and she was very sweet on the six-hour ride home, she loves going in the car and I travel often with her. She only weighed 26 pounds when she arrived and now is a healthy 34 lbs. she loves playing in the snow and the first winter took her to Sun Valley on a snowshoe trip. She ran and played with other dogs till I thought she would drop.
I just don't have words to express what a sweet Kerry she is and feel so blessed to have her in my life, but feel very sad for whoever had to part with
her. She is very well trained and because she is my seventh Kerry I do know that everything is on their terms!
